Welcome over here Walter. Those are some solid goals for this year. I think you will meet and exceed them. Are you doing the meet at Brute in April?

I've decided to move my log over here, not only because I plan on continuing to compete, but also because the programming I'm using has moved beyond "intermediate" stage and this forum is more appropriate for it.
Old log is at http://startingstrength.com/resource...=35485&page=63
Updated stats:
Male, 50 years old, 6'2", 220 lbs.
Current 1RM's:
BP - 300 with pause
SQ - 440 wrapped, 420 raw
PR - 160
DL - 450
Powerlifting goals for this year:
BP - 310
SQ - 460
DL - 475
This would total 1,245 and, using Malone formula, would equal 1,562.
Currently planning a meet in April that I will simply train through with only a few days taper. I'm now looking at a meet in July as my next big peak because I think it will take that long to make good gains over my current numbers.

Good move.
So jazzed you're on here Walter!
Those goals look a little conservative.
What's your program look like, Walter?
Looking forward to following your progress!
Karl, I've been working with Jordan since last March and we've been doing a block periodization approach. I'm doing a short GPP block right now but then moving back into accumulation. We'll program for two major peaks this year - June/July and December. What's your program look like, Walter?
Gillian, no, I'm doing a local meet here in Kentucky that is convenient. In July, I'm going to try a Southern Powerlifting Federation Meet down in Alabama. There are quite a few good meets up in the Columbus area throughout the year but the schedules just aren't matching up for me. Probably do an RPS meet up there in December. Are you doing the meet at Brute in April?
Niki, I appreciate the confidence but remember that I am old! Actually, you may be right. I'm being a little conservative with the BP because I added a lot of weight to that lift last year and I'm not particularly well built for that lift. The SQ could possible go up to 470 and a 500 lb. DL is not out of the question just not sure if that will happen this year. Those goals look a little conservative.

SQ - 45x5, 135x5, 225x2
DL - 145x2x3, 225x2, 315x2, 365x1, 405x4, 385x4
BP w/2 boards - 45x5, 135x5, 185x6, 185x6, 185x6, 185x6, 175x6
BP w/3 ct pause - 175x6, 170x6, 165x6
DB Lateral Raise - 12.5x3x10
Probably started 20 lbs. too light in picking the BP weight for my initial so that's the reason for so many sets before I got close to RPE target. DL's were a lot of volume after SQ's yesterday so only took one back off set to hit my fatigue stop.
Once again a lot of good work being done.
Welcome to the big boys club, Walter. Did you bring the whiskey?
