    Default Knees too wide?

I was doing my top set at 295x1+. I got 5, but the weight seemed pretty heavy.

During my reps, I noticed that my knees would widen dramatically through my sticking point through the lift. This is due to my own self queuing of knees out.

So, my knees widen dramatically through the sticking point (about a third of the way up from out of the hole) and then move back to normal position.

Is this a problem? Any safety concerns? Should I keep my knees ultra wide from the begging of the set?

I probably should make a video.

It would be best to post a video man. I read somewhere that people bring their knees in or push them out during sticking points because of a subliminal and fruitless attempt to get the smaller muscles of the legs into the fight. Take a video so people better educated than I can help you out.

You generally want to keep your knees in the same place below halfway down during the squat. Having them go wider is better than collapsing in, I suppose.

After pondering this a bit, I think the knee widening is an affect of "hip drive". The glutes are not only hip flexors, they are external rotators and hip abductors. Perhaps the knee widening is the result of my glutes trying to overpower the movement a bit.

I could definitely be wrong on this guess.
