    Damn.

    Come on, man!

    Scenario:

Deadlifts. Wanted to work my bar speed with 500 tonight. Planned for singles. Strapped and belted.

Worked up the load with 5s, then 3s...last 3 was 450. No belt, no straps, just chalk and music.

All is well, cruising right along.

Loaded the 5. Strapped to the bar. Yelled at the dogs to get off the platform. Set up for first rep...

    Began the pull...

Right strap slips with the bar a foot off the ground.

Probably won't be able to do any heavy work for 3 weeks.

How bad?! And, does your grip not hold up with 500?

It's nothing new. Been through it many times. The weight doesn't matter. I've dropped 25's, 10's, everything. I can be holding something one second and not the next. My spinal nerves just shut off my hands sometimes. Wasn't a bad episode tonight...except that I was trying to move 500 as fast as I could. That's why I used straps. But just a slight glitch in the wiring and the strap slid, hand loosened, weight dropped. On one side. Bad stuff. Bad pain. The good thing is I know the process and can work with it. It's not as bad as when my spine throws me into paralysis. Which has happened while lifting.

Vicodin and ambien and a good night's sleep. I have a trusty cane standing by. I'll probably want to beat someone with it though. Just sucks to be sitting around on a friday night. Eh...it's cold here and no one went out anyways, but still. It wasn't even an option. Dislike. So I'm watching the SS dvd...don't know why. Waiting on the wife to get home like a good househusband.

Man...I thought I would remain incognito for a lot longer. Stupid loose lips from beer and vicodin.

A second cane will be helpful in the latter instance. Gotta keep your balance while you deliver that sound and thorough beating. Plus you can look really cool when you do the two handed stick work.

But anyway, yow. Ow. Ow. That whole uncooperative nervous system thing must be absolutely maddening.

Sorry to hear that, man. Glad you know how to deal with it though. See you back at it soon?!
