    Default Divebombing into squats...

So, this is probably a stupid thread. Lol

I had an epiphany about my squat form. I've been too worried about hitting that reflex bounce at the bottom and letting myself descend too fast into the hole. This of course sets up a big problem of looseness and loss of control at pretty much the worst time. Tonight i really focused on a controlled slow descent and then a bit of a bounce at the very bottom and it felt great. Much better control of the bar path and much better tightness across the whole system.

Since this is a Q&A, let me attempt to legitimize this stupid thread by asking a stupid question: Do you guys think that descent speed should be as fast as possible (titrated on a personal basis) for a squatter as long as they can maintain good form and tightness? Or is slower always better?

It seems that most if not all the huge PR squat videos online show a pretty slow descent.

Control your descent. If you bomb into the bottom you have more downward momentum to overcome and it usually means your aren't as tight as you should be.

I wanted to say cool, I don't know what caul is. I also didn't want to quote.

Well I saw your name, then I thought I could take a look at your website again and then I saw its new. So I thought I'll tell you that I like it. Weird I know, my line of thought is sometimes inscrutable. But I swear, one day I'll knock on your door, haha :-)

Call me first. Random German dudes showing up at my door unannounced make me nervous.

    Thanks for the feedback!
