I'm stretching my hamstrings out so I can set my low back better.
Hello.
What is the movement you do at 0:25 just before pulling?

Why do you do that?
I'm stretching my hamstrings out so I can set my low back better.
I see, didn't think about that.
In your experience is it worth to get an unweighted "stretch reflex" to lift more?
isn't that something we all do instinctively? i have never seen a decent deadlifter not do it, has anyone?
Your form reminded me of Konstantinovs "cannonball" position. You looked very tight in there and you could see that in the pressure you applied to the ground at the start of the pull. Nice pull.
For those who haven't seen Konstantinov:

1) Ripsaw is the man
2) Konstantinov does not do that (he does oddly during some rack pulls but not during normal DLs)
Yep
I meant people with average genetics... but i do take Coach Rip's word for it.
I don't know what that would have to do with genetics. Some learn to do it that way, and like the hamstring stretch just before the lumbar extension, some don't. I find it helps because I have shitty flexibility.
i mention genetics because someone with good genetics can get away with less efficient conditions. i don't have bad flexibility, i do it because i feel like i get some elastic energy / stretch reflex stored before the first rep... i know that is not the case, but instinctively i go about it that way.
