Maybe pushing your head against the bench? Some people do that when the weight gets really heavy.
So on Thursday I was on rep 4 of bench press on intensity day and I had a sharp pain just below my left shoulder blade. Not terribly intense but sharp. Anyway now my left trap is intensely sore and I have sharp pain at the top of my trap, sort of between the top of my shoulder blade and my spine. So right in the meat of the trap.
Anyone else ever have this happen? Maybe a sign of a technical issue with the bench press?

Really sounds like pushing your head against the bench. I used to do this as well, albeit unknowingly. Don't do it, it is legit dangerous.
