intermediate help
I can no longer make progress on the squat with novice programming so I've started the Texas method.
My problem is that I think my "intensity" day are only slightly heavier in terms of %RM than my "volume" days so when I attempt a 1-3 rep max I feel like I'm crushing myself and don't enjoy lifting at all.
You see, I can perform relatively better at higher reps/lower intensity than higher intensity so a 5x5 workout is at a high percentage of my 1RM.
I have done 15 reps at 240, 5x5 at 285, but only 2 reps at 295.
This might suggest I'm slow twitch but I actually love sprinting.
I think Poliquin has written about endurance athletes that can perform hundreds of reps at 80% of 1RM.
So how should I manipulate the sets/reps on volume and intensity days to make progress?
Purposely keep it lighter for 5x5?
Do 3x5 as a "intensity" day and 4x8 as a "volume" day?
Thank you.

I'd suggest using the Westside DE workout for your intensity day. This might help address the neuromuscular problems responsible for your inefficiency at higher percentages of 1RM.
