If it was to a T he would be doing cleans. Did his advice have any validity to it?
I have a rant. People believe that as each generation goes by, the smarter they get. I find this to be completely true. Today, as i was doing my squat sets. This kid, that has not a single bit of bodyhair on him asks if he can work in. I decide to be nice to this kid as let him join me in the middle of my squat sets. He asks me if im doing "Rippetoe's Starting Strength" and i reply yes. Then, this kid proceeds to point out many of the errors i have in my technique. Keep in mind that this young chap is only 14-16, looked about a foot shorter than me. So im just confuzzled by the fact that this kid has taken the time to read your books and has proven that he can put up some decent weight. It was his Workout B day and he squatted 245 for 3 x 5, pressed 105 for 3 x 5 and did pendlay rows for 115 3 x 5. So, in the end, i am saying Congratulations on reaching to young 15 year olds who wanting to get stronger and are following the program to the T to do it.

Sadly, the young lad was not able to teach himself cleans.
He was pretty correct about a couple things. The boy said: "You need to be 200+ lbs considering you have a foot over me."
He also helped me fix my knees sliding forward at the bottom and keeping the back angle correct when initiating a hip drive.
The future is bright for that kid! Great story.
Go back to bed, old man
I'm 22. How old are you?
