    Default SLDL and goodmorning mechanics

It seems like I have a hard time recruiting my posterior chain so the other day i tried SLDL's and goodmornings with an empty bar to focus on my weak link. In doing so I found SLDL's to be harder with the same weight. In starting strength you mention that one always has to support himself under his center of gravity which leads me to the following:

    1. Is the difference between SLDL's and goodmornings, in the way they recruit the posterior chain, only in the difference of ROM that results from different COG's?

    2. Is it possible to replicate the goodmorning (with reagrd to the posterior chain) with a SLDL with lower weight and lower ROM?

No one else that I know of can evaluate the merits of a heavy exercise by testing on themselves with a 45 lb. bar. You may be exceptional, but you'd be the first person I've heard of to ever goodmorning more than they could SL deadlift. Your questions subsequent to this observation would be hard to address.
