    Default asymmetry in leg/foot orientation?

    Rip,

I did use the Search Function but couldn't find anything quite similar.

While squatting today, I noticed that if I pointed my left foot out at ~ 45 degrees, with my right foot at ~ 30 degrees, I was able to get down easier, and squatting in general was easier than if both feet were pointed at the same angle.

I thought this was strange. Then I noticed that when I walk, my left foot is normally pointed outward more than my right, unless I make an effort to make them even.

Could there be some sort of asymmetry in my foot/leg somewhere? And is it okay for me to continue lifting like this? Or should I make sure the angles are the same?

Afterwards, while deadlifting, I intentionally pointed my left foot slightly further out. It seemed fine, and I might have been doing this all along without realizing it.

I am 6'0", 220 lb, age 36. Squats were 205 lb today, deads were 280 lb, if that matters. I'd post a video, but I don't have a camera.

    Thanks

If your legs are attached asymmetrically, you will have to squat that way. But from here I can't determine whether this is just a fucked up movement pattern or an actual bony asymmetry.
