The wife is not doing much more than the bar weight with deadlift at this point with the trap bar. It is awkward for her to get down and lift the bar, so I need something to raise the bar. Have used plastic spacers, but would like something that slips onto the bar. I have looked at bumper plates, but the lighter ones say they cannot be loaded. Is there a strong bumper plate that is of little weight (let's say 5 lb) that will take being loaded, for example, with 2 25lb plates on each side?

Can you build a couple small boxes to set the weights on to raise the bar high enough?

Scrap 3/4-inch plywood, a jigsaw, and a steady hand can make you a set of usable temporary plates for about nothing.

But why do you need light plates if you're loading 50 lb a side?
