I'm going on vacation with my family for a week. I'll be out of the gym a whole week, and I'm worried this will affect my progress on SS. Not only that, but my diet will be shit as I'm gonna have less control of what I eat. How should I approach my workout when I come back? Do I start again with the same weight I left off or do I deload a bit. I'm hoping it won't be that bad and I don't lose too much strength.

Don't deload. Hit the same weights as your last completed workout. Should be ok. Yes you'll be out of the gym, but that also means extra recovery.

As for the food - do your best, but have fun. It's vacation.

I had about two, 1-2 week breaks during SS because of travel. As Milo said, the extra recovery time made me feel fresh and no less strong when I returned. I felt like those spread out breaks were good for me. About a potential deload or not, if I felt like I was going strong on a lift, I just repeated the weight on that lift then kept going. There were one or two of the lifts where I felt like I was very near to a stall before leaving -- on those lifts I took off 5 or 10 lbs and then kept on moving. So I would say that, for me at least, I took a variable approach.

On the food thing, yes, enjoy the vacay. I just came back from a week long family vacation, and I figured I would be heavier, but was at the same weight. I enjoyed ice cream and all the fun things with my family, and didn't hold back on dinners out, etc. But I did mentally "cut back" on breakfast and lunch a bit, and early day snacking in between. I just made sure I hit my protein at all meals, and cut back on a few carbs for breakfast and lunch...
