    Default Leg drive on the bench press

    any of yous know how to do it? everytime i push with my heels i slide backwards.

    Try to push more into the bench. Don't push with your neck down but try to use the force to kind of push down instead of straight back. Are you arching? That should help too.

    Also maybe change your shirt or find a bench that isn't so slippery, could be something stupid like that.

    I try to push my feet forward into the ground like a leg extension. If I push too much from my heels, my hamstring starts to cramp up.

    Make sure your shirt is cotton, chalk your bench, and learn to arch. For me as my bench gets heavier my leg drive gets better out of necessity.

    Yes, the weight of the bar pushes your upper back into the bench. Adding the 'leg drive' just helps to further wedge your upper back into the bench. More weight on the bar means your upper back gets planted more solidly.

    The arch is important. There shouldn't be any contact with the bench between where your butt and upper back are in contact.

    Ok, so first of all i'd have to get my bench higher so that im able to use it as an aid to plant my upper back into the bench. only benching 95kgs for reps here. =(

    Im assuming everyone here benches with their heels in contact with the floor throughout the lift. yes? i wish i could bench with my heels off, i feel much tighter that way but competition rules dont allow it. oh well.

    yes, but not to find out which position was the best for a leg drive. I did to find out which position was best for me to create a tight and big arch which was with my feet planted underneath the bench forming a "V" shape.

    Hoppa, the best way to learn to leg drive is to pause bench. Bring the bar down, let it sink
    in to your chest, and hold it for a good three to four seconds.

    After this, you'll need to explode up with everything you have to get it moving again. You'll
    start using your legs to drive naturally or it will pin you. Just keep your butt on the bench
    and voila, you learned to leg drive.

    is that how you learned to do yours?
