    Default Pulled Trap?

    Hi Coach Rip,

Yesterday I was pressing 170 for 3, when on the third rep I inadvertently drove my head too far forward as I was trying to get under the par (thus causing my cervical spine to become misaligned with the rest of my spine). I immediately felt a lot of pain in my neck. It hurts to move my neck both left and right, but most of all to look down. Looking up, however, doesn't seem to hurt though. Most of the pain is on my right side, around my C7 and T1. Also, the muscles around the the effected area feel tight, but don't feel sore or tender at all.

Does this sound like a pulled trap or is it something else? I have been lifting consistently for over a year now, and I did pretty much the same thing several months ago, but it wasn't nearly as painful and it healed within a couple of days.

    Thanks,
    Herb

You hurt your neck, not your trap. Chiropractor.

This is a good example as to why I ABHOR the cue "Head Thru" when coaching the Press. Good luck to you.
