Default Why am I getting weaker?

Hi, I started this programme very recently. In fact, I just did my second workout today.

I was practicing for about a month with very low weight to get form right. I did my first SS workout on Fri, did 80kg squat which felt fine, how ever rip says you should be able to add ~10lbs everyworkout so I went for 85kg today, I managed it with good depth, but it truly felt like death!

I also did 120kg x5 deadlift which was very disappointing as during the month prior when I was practicing I actually managed to pull 135kg x5 with good form and I didn't feel as exhausted afterward.

What really pissed me off though was my bench. I've been stuck on 70kg throughout the 'practice' month, and it isn't getting any better as I stalled on the last rep of last set today. So it's actually gotten weaker.

I don't understand what the problem is.

This is what I ate yesterday as a sample diet -

    morning - whey protein shake
lunch - mcd's chicken sandwhich, chicken nuggets and fries
    evening - 10" cheese pizza
Night - portion of sweet and sour chicken, 7 barbecue chicken wings

So I think i'm getitng enough as far as calories go

Is it possible alcohol is the problem? In the past week i've managed to drink a crap load of beer.

    This place has gotten strange.

But I think you should ask Rip this question. He's the only one who will really be able to answer this for you.

Sounds like you've not done the program correctly. Forget starting high, forget form practice. Start low, practice on the way up and make linear progression.

I've been on the program for coming up to two months. Squat is up approx 125% , Bench is up about 100% and Dead is up about 90%.

Try re-reading the book, re-reading the wiki and start all over again.

My all time max for a bench was 100 x 3. That was when I weighed 79kg.

At 6 81kg i'm now fatter and doubt I could actually manage that.

I didn't even start high. I started with an empty bar when practicing.

You need to eat more in the morning and drink milk. Drink plenty of water too especially if you are drinking lots of beer. Try to drink beer only the night before recovery days rather than the night before workout days. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep. If you follow the program to the T and try these you should not have any problems.

Also you seem to be wasting extra energy typing "me" at the end of your program. Discard this and your lifts should go up at least 10%.

You are getting approximately HALF of the calories that you should. That's all there is to it. I see GOMAD in your future.

Also, take videos of yourself performing the various lifts and compare the videos to images in the book. Chances are your form isn't good yet.
