They are performed from various pin settings. This one is lower than that illustrated in the book.
What's the reason for a forward of midfood start position?
It is not forward of mid-foot. It is slightly behind, maybe 1/2 inch, because the rack pull uses a slightly more horizontal back angle than a deadlift.
I do my DL in a rack set from the pins.Im tall so this places them at the mid shin position.
Then they are not deadlifts. They are rack pulls.
