It is really depressing that something as noble as trying to maintain or increase strength as one ages is so controversial. I remember being asked by my cardiologist “what do you do for exercise?”
I answered that i lifted weights and pushed a prowler. I am 46 and do 315x5 for squat 240x5 for bench and can deadlift around 420ish. Not stellar but stronger than 90% of my peers. I was told to stop that stuff and start long slow cardio. Luckily I am aware of the data and just ignored it. But it is sad that someone would discourage me and I think that it is rampant. But what gives me hope is that I look better than I did at 20 and now guys my age at least ask what did you do? Maybe the tide is turning I don’t know, but I will tell you I hit a pr after watching your 60 year old self do a 500lb deadlift. You do a lot of good and are a great inspiration to “older” guys.

Really enjoyed hearing the audio article Rip! While I'm not old yet my parents and in-laws are. While they complain about loosing strength and "aging sucks". I'll have them at least listen to this.

While I know you advocate that you can't make people do the things you want to, I can most certainly steer them in the right direction by having them take 20 minutes out of their day to listen to this. After that the balls in their court.
