    Default What is the Routine?

    Everyone is always asking about other exercises to use, but all I have ever seen in the SS 1st ed (only Rippetoe book I have) is the A (squat/bench/deads) & B (squat/press/clean) alternating workout, is there something I am missing?

    I started at the beginning of the year doing 5x5 and with an empty and added 5lbs each workout, I also switched off doing 3 sets to failure of chins/pullups after I did the primary lifts.

    Now that I have been working out consistently for about 5 weeks and have the technique down I would like to switch to the 3x5 exactly as mentioned in the book.

    Do I do the 5 lifts as stated in the 1st ed SS or is there something I am missing by not having the next edition?

    It matters that you are 50 lbs. underweight. Yes, get the new edition, and get PPST while you're busy spending money. Things have grown more complicated over the past 4 years.
