I have always considered the Snatch Grip Deadlift The King Of All Exercises, so it's time I go after a 500 pound pull.
For those of you interested in joining in on the strength building fun, the only rules I think we really need are:
1) Hands must be outside of the 32" rings on the bar.
2) Video proof of the 500 pull.
Straps are fine, since they are pretty much necessary to pull any appreciable weight on the SGDL.
Belts are also fine, since most people use them for their Deadlifts. (I don't)
I am going to max out Saturday to see where I'm at. I'm hoping for at least a 450 pull.
Post your successes along the way with videos or regular posts for added motivation.

I think it should be even harder. Snatch grip clean into snatch grip strict press, no straps. Has to be a stiff bar so no slack in the pull and no potential bar whip to assist in the press. Let's go.
In all seriousness, this would be really cool to see a contest for. Sadly I don't think I am quite close enough to "race" to it. I'll root for everyone though!
Give me 6 months... Is there a time limit?
I'm (theoretically) good for 200kg/440lbs right now, if given a taper.
I tried snatch grips for a while. My reaction was kinda meh. For what purpose do you guys program them? They're very popular on this board.
In my past, 4 main reasons:
1: initially, tried them as a desperate tool to unfuck seeming t-spine weakness (pretty sure they worked)
2: as a 'squat-place-holder' during times of patellar tendonitis flare ups.
3: as an efficient means to get in a 20
minute strength workout during periods when I loathe lifting
4: irrational enthusiasm.
