What would you do with a new trainee that can’t bend his left knee far enough to squat properly? It was replaced about a year ago and excessive scar tissue is preventing a full range of motion. I had introduced a box squat with light weight but this does not seem a good fit. It seems to me that he will have trouble controlling the descent with heavier weight. Can increased range of motion be gradually worked in with this condition? I’m considering removing the movement entirely but would much rather get the intended result of a proper squat.

Continue to try to slowly increase the ROM. Scar tissue can be modified.
