I didn't see any previous posts on this, so I'll ask it here.

In the assistance exercise section of SS, Rip mentions that roman chairs with rolling thigh pads are no good (bad for the knees? I don't have my book on me at the moment to double-check). I'd like to start doing some glute/ham raises, but my gym only has a roman chair with pads on bearings. Should I just stick with back extensions? Or is it not always black and white?

I've been thinking that I could put some heavy resistance bands around the pads and the frame to reduce the rolling of the pads...
