Broe's Powerlifting Journey - Road to 2nd meet
Been lifting haphazardly since my last meet on 11/8/2014. Figured it was time to stop dicking around and get serious about training for 4/25/2015. Log is to help with accountability, and get input from those of you who are more experienced.
Gonna start with 8 weeks or so of LP to get back up to where I left off pre-meet. Will decide 12 weeks out if programming change is warranted.
Today's work (lbs.):
Bench 197.5 x 5, 5, 8
Squat 295 x 5, 5, 8
Starting out around 80% of 1RM. Squats felt good. Bench wasn't my best, but certainly not my worst.

Today's work:
Press 137.5 x 5, 5, 8
Deadlift 365 x 5
Presses felt good. Deadlift felt fucking heavier than it should have - I think I should have been able to get more than 5 reps. Need to eat something before training and maybe push back to later in the day.

Bench 200x 5, 5, 9
Squat: 300 x 5, 5, 8
12/9:
Bench 202.5 x 5, 5, 6
Squat: 305 x 5, 5, 8
Running on lack of sleep and food today. Happy to get the reps I did.

12 weeks out from the meet. I think I've finally dialed shit in. Felt solid and strong tonight. Squat 295 x 8, 225 x 10 x 3 (see The Purposeful Primitive by Marty Gallagher).

I'll be following along if you keep logging. What's your weight class? How'd the last meet go?

Right now I compete in the 275s. Last meet I finished with a 365 squat, 245 bench, and 455 deadlift.
Squats today. 190x5, 220x5, 250x5, 280x5, 310x5
Last set was a grinder. Not enough sleep, food, or water.

Got super busy last week, and it was bitterly cold. Having just gotten over an illness that sidelined me for 2+ weeks, I wasn't taking any chances. Finally got back to it yesterday.
Squats 205x5, 235x5, 265x5, 295x5, 325x5

Bench today. 140x5, 160x5, 180x5, 200x5, 220x4. Should've put more fuel in me before heading out to lift.

Deadlifts yesterday: 255x5, 290x5, 330x5, 365x5, 400x3
Presses today: 85x5, 105x5, 115x5, 135x5, 145x5
