Mike Barwis used to be the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Michigan. He is now soon to be a reality TV icon. It seems like a pretty good transition for a lot of college S&C coaches.

Your previous comments about most college S&C coaches are apparently going to be proven correct. Substitute lots of exercises, lots of toys, lots of screaming and yelling, and lots of vocal cord damage for productive programming and intelligent coaching, and not only do we have the norm for collegiate S&C, we have a hit TV show that will cause you and I to have to explain ourselves.

I just imagined American Strength starring Mark Rippetoe. The show was cancelled after one season because the only thing that happened was that the clients' forms improved and they get incrementally stronger. No drama.

I'm glad this is crap. Now I can continue with my 100% ignore-the-tv-it's-all-crap-anyway lifestyle, and while others are busy watching this probable-shite-fest we'll be busy lifting and eating and getting stronger.

Sadly, no matter what, you'll always have explaining to do.

Reality Television, my new favourite oxymoron. Along with: Jumbo Shrimp, Government Intelligence and Political Science.

This guy's Wikipedia entry is a goldmine of cringe.

Barwis is reluctant to talk about his mixed martial arts background. A former West Virginia wrestler swore he saw "the 195-pound Barwis force a 300-pound Mountaineer heavyweight to -- in MMA terms -- 'tap out.'"[10]
    Jesus fucking Christ.

It looks like the asininity of Duck Dynasty combined with the stupidity of your average college trainers.
