As suggested by Mr. Hurling, my geezeling training log:
5/3/1 with a couple of singles @ 90 and 95% of 1RM and back down the mountain with an AMRAP on the last set. Assistance Work - BBB with the counterparty lift

    Press Day 3's week
    eb x10, 65lbs x5, 85lbs x3, 95lbs x1
    105lbs x3, 120lbs x3, 135lbs x3
    142.5lbs x1
    120lbs x3, 105lbs x12

    Assistance Work:
    Bench - eb x10, 95lbs x5, 135lbs x3, 145lbs x1, 155lbs x10, 145lbs x10, 135lbs x10
    Rows - 135lbs x10, 145lbs x10, 155lbs 3x10
    Neutral Grip Chins / Dips - bw+12lbs 5x5

Comments appreciated as to programming and recovery given the fact that chronologically I'm an old fart but I'm still an excitable boy.

Nice lifts, Browndog! How long have you been doing 5/3/1?

Thanks, about two years total time.

Did the plain vanilla 5/3/1 and did very nicely with it. Got sidetracked for about 9 months and came back to the bar with my own programming (which went nowhere fast). Then to start 2012 I returned to 5/3/1 and ran the Big But Boring Challenge for 6 months. I didn't respond well to the lack of AMRAPing and my PR's were non-existent.
In July I tweaked the programming and went back to AMRAPing as well as throwing in two or three heavy singles at 90% to 100% each session (to facilitate a better response to "heavier" weights in my hands and on my back) as well as dropping the BBB from five sets to three. Only later on did I read that Wendler suggested this approach as well...I must be learning something after all.

I haven't had the mind blowing success that say, Mac has had of these last 6 months. I have managed to put 5 lbs on the Press, 10lbs on the Bench, 15lbs on the DL and 10lbs on the Squat. The estimated 1rm numbers went up significantly more, but true 1rm's are all that count in my book.

But, as Wendler says, slow progress is still progress...

Good start on your log. But please, dispense with the Mr. business. I appreciate the courtesy but I don't know how to act when someone refers to me that way. Mark or MEH is fine.

    Squat Day

    eb x10, 95lbs x5, 145lbs x5, 195lbs x3
    210lbs x3, 240lbs x3, 267.5lbs x5
    280lbs x1, 290lbs x1
    240lbs x3, 210lbs x10
Good AMRAP set and equaled my 1rm on the top single. Wish I had realized it at the time. I would have thrown on the "heavy collars" to make it 292.5lbs...it would have gone up.

    Assistance Work:
    Deadlift - 135lbs x5, 225lbs x5, 305lbs x10, 275lbs x10, 245lbs x10
    LTE / Curls - 45lbs x30

    I'm spent...time for a nap.

    Another nice workout, Browndog.

Man, those are some great high reps on the DLs! I try to do a back-off set after my work sets on TM intensity day, and am always amazed at how it turns lifting into an aerobic sport!

I actually took a nap today. I fell asleep at the kitchen table, lol.

Now that's a new one. Carlos Daniel took to calling me knurling for a while. That didn't catch on. Hurls might.
