Did anyone here ever do a personal training certification course? What are your best recommendations for top courses?

I would just start hitting up your local colleges for courses and info. Also try going to local gyms and ask the staff trainers.

Are you going after working in a commercial gym? You'll have to get ncsa, cscs, acsm, ace, nasm, Issa etc... One of the big ones. If you are looking to go private or just want one for insurance purposes look into a cheaper non accredited one. ACTION (although it's now accredited) is a lot cheaper than the others. You can top up with specialist certs after and eventually let the shitty PT one die in a corner.

I'm not sure what you're looking to do with your certification, but I'm happy to talk about the benefits of attaining the Starting Strength Coach credential, either here or via PM, if you're interested.

I've actually let all mine slip. I did ACTION when it was originally called ACT and they offered it for free to get it out there before it was accredited. I'll probably do it again as its still hundreds of dollars cheaper, ncca accredited and you can just pay $10 a month till its paid off.
Stuff like the SSC cert, Westside, some crossfit ones, USAW and nutrition ones are perfect to do after you have built up some experience and money.

yeah . . .but those are hard to get. You actually have to be a good coach. I just want a piece of paper to get a job at a gym.

I think I'm still certified by NCSF for another month or so. I needed a certification to start a Master's program, and that was the cheapest option. Not going to bother keeping it current.

You also have to look at it in terms of practicality too. Commercial gyms won't accept your SSC cert in order to work for them. Just like building your own gym, at home or as a business, you are better off to start small and build from there.
