If anyone already competes in weightlifting I'd really appreciate the advice. I was wondering what steps someone has to take to compete in weightlifting?

    1) Join USA Weightlifting:

    2) Find a club:

    3) Sign up for a meet:

You don't need a club. It's helpful, though. But, yeah, all you really need to do is join USAW and sign up for a meet. And get a singlet. And know how to do the lifts, the rules, that stuff.

Actually, I'm one of the ones in Phoenix come to think it it, but Garrett Smith works out of Tucson. You can find him on Facebook among other things

Found his website Charles, thank you much. Is it a gym that I can be a member of or is he mainly a Physician?

The fantastic new is that his facility is literally 2 minutes from the house I will be moving into!
