    171kg snatch by David Garcia:

A buddy of mine coached David before he moved out the Olympic Training Center. I've posted on the forum before about David, but he recently had shoulder surgery (<1 year ago). While recovering from surgery he got his squat up with a nice PR of 305kg. Since then he started snatching and C&J'ing for about 1 full training cycle.

This is a PR lift for David and it is one hell of a snatch. Pulls in a beautiful straight line, high hip position, and great lockout overhead. He squats more than any American weightlifter that I know, and his technique is pretty well in line with what Starting Strength promotes. Amazingly enough, he snatches more than anyone in America, except for our best super heavyweight (who snatches 180, and also pulls with high hips and squats a lot).

Nice pull, still just a bit forward off the floor. But not the standard loopy disaster we're used to seeing.

Not trying to nitpick here... doesn't David squat high bar? Watching his squats on Instagram, he certainly does utilize hip drive. Just thought I'd ask.

I'm sure he does. He's an Olympic lifter. We were observing his pull.
