Pressing issues.....
Hi Coach, excuse the terrible pun...
Anyway, Ive just finished my 8th week of SS and both my lifts and bodyweight are all progressing in a linear fashion - except my presses (both standing and bench) and my current stats are :
Squat 193
Bench 121
Deadlift 264
Press 88
6'2 and prob weigh in at around 185 -190 now
I seriously doubt sleep and diet are a problem, I both get a good 8-10 sleep a night and I previously made a post concerned over gaining weight too fast (clearly getting some fat gain, but my "man-boy" size 32 pants still fit).
I do however have long ass arms and a short torso (which prob explains my higher deadlifts), but I can't think this would interefere too much in my pressing would it? (also making 1.25kg a side jumps, but still never seem to get any higher than 121lbs)
I was thinking that I could perhaps throw in assistance work, (but I REALLY dont wanna fuck with the original program at all tbh). I was also thinking of slowing down my weight gain/food intake to at least try and let my presses perhaps "catch up" (I want to have some decent weight to strength ratio) as eating more doesnt seem to solve it - but I also dont wanna stunt squat and dead progression - perhaps I just wasnt made to press?
Thanks for taking the time to read this post and I hope you can answer my question
Regards
I guess my question is how should I go about

Well, 2.5 kg jumps are TOO FUCKING MUCH WEIGHT TO JUMP IN THE PRESS AND BENCH PRESS. Perhaps you'd better take smaller jumps.

Thanks coach, I know you advise against using 2.5kg jumps on presses, but had assumed you meant each side - not overall.
This momentary lapse of judgement can be easily explained by the simple fact that I am indeed, an idiot
Thanks again

DUDE - go to the hardware store or local sports store and get smaller weights! Try the washers glued together method or if you have a food scale you can use chains and just wrap the bar. If you are using collars don't forget to add those up as well.
