    Mr. Rippetoe,

    When you have talked about where to put your hands on the bar for bench press, you've mentioned that the goal for general strength athletes is to work the most muscle through the greatest range of motion. This is why athletes shouldnt use too wide a grip, because the goal isnt to see how much weight we can lift but to train as much muscle as possible. Correct?

    I am wondering, does this same logic apply to squats. In other words, although one can squat more weight using the low bar back squat, does the front squat work more muscle through a greater range of motion? Thankyou for any insight you can give.

    The front squat works less muscle, as I've described in no less than 30 other places, both on this board and in print. The question is not offensive, just repetitive and unresearched.
