    This is sort of a fluff question;

    When you load old style iron plates (e.g. York) on the bar, do you put the logo in, or out, and why?

    I realize it makes not a whit of difference to the exercise. I've always loaded the bar with logo out, that way, I have the little ridge to grab when removing the plate. But I noticed that I'm in the minority, it seems more lifters load the bar logo in. I tried it the other way, but didn't find it comfortable.

    Hence this poll.

    You face the flange inwards so your fingers can grab it.

    It isn't bro-decorum...

    With the flange out, I can grab it without separating them first. But that's why I ask. Seems I've been doing it wrong.

    USPA style is to load >= 45lb plates facing in, smaller plates facing out.

    This is the right way to do it.

    I load them facing out myself. But I always thought the reason to face them in was so the collar would sit flush against the back of the plate and you would have less movement?

    I think the logo and flange should face in for all plates. The flange then sits flush with the flat back surface of the next inner plate. The plates faces are then all parallel to each other (even if the hole in the plate has a slight bevel) and sit tight up against each other.
