    Default should i deadlift with my squat shoes too????

    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    not sure...should i deadlift in flat shoes instead?

    Try both ways and see what you like. I prefer flats and can pull a lot more that way. The one advantage for a newbie lifting in heels is that you are still using a high quality shoe. I went and got some throwing shoes, and those have pretty hard bottoms.

    As a general rule of thumb, if you're a newbie, I recommend just doing your pulls in your lifting shoes. As a lifter reaches the end of their LP - or perhaps later - they can experiment with flat shoes if they wish. If they decide to compete they may want to wear deadlift slippers for singles. At the end of the day it becomes a matter of preference. I just don't think there is anything to be gained by switching footwear early on.
