Default 4-day split, too worn out after deadlifts

Male, 47, 5'9, 292lbs, 28% fat by DEXA, I think very volume sensitive.

    I've been doing a 4-day split, like:
    Mon: heavy squat 3x3 @ 335, light deadlift 1x3 @260
Tues: heavy press 3x3 @125, light bench
Thurs: heavy deadlift - 1x325,3x305 , light squat*
Fri: heavy bench 3x3 @ 190, light press

On heavy deadlift day (Thurs), I'm frequently too wiped out to do any kind of volume on squats. Last week, I failed to the safeties on the third rep of my first light working set at 260.

I'm considering maybe swapping Thursday light squats with Friday light presses, or maybe doing light squats on wednesday (adding a fifth day). What is the first thing I should try?

I generally rest 2-5 minutes as needed between warmups and 8-10 between heavy sets.

Have you tried doing the light squats prior to deadlifts? A lot of people favor this approach as the Squat gets the legs and hips quite thoroughly warm for the deadlifts, but not enough stress to wear you out prior to pulling. I think I'd try that first and see what happens.

That's a good idea, thanks. I've always kinda felt like my deadlift lagged my squat during SS LP because I was pretty tired from squatting and pressing before deads, but I've never tried deads after just light squats.
