Default Push-presses are gods gift to a lifter (tm light days?)

Dropped weighted dips this week cause they have been messing up my neck and t-spine for some reason. So I replaced them with push-presses. I can't believe that I've never given this exercise the spot light in any program. They are one of the best dam exercises in the world!!!!

What would you do for a TM light day. Would you do the standard press or a push press and at what % of 5rm?

Wouldn't do push presses at all on light day.

I stopped doing weighted dips after mildly straining my pec the second time. Not taking a chance on something worse happening.

As for push presses, I was never sure if I was getting anything out of them. They were lots of fun and I liked putting so much weight over my head. I don't know if they improved my lockout of the press 2.0 since I wasn't weak at lockout to begin with.

I wouldn't use them on a light day personally. But I could see how you could utilize them on a light day if you kept the weight similar to your press in that it allows you to use musculature to move the same amount of weight. It would take some pressure of the shoulders. Honestly, press vs. push-press depends on your weaknesses and what your overall goals are. You can rotate it too. I tend to that with my overhead exercises. I'll do maybe 4 weeks of strict press, maybe 4 of push presses, 4 of power jerks. Keeps things fresh for me. I train for weightlifting though so it may be different than someone training for powerlifting or just general strength.

You mean they are the Lord of Light's gift to a lifter.

    Question. Do you bench?

I don't get much out of push presses either. They don't help my press in the slightest, and benching is better for overall upper body mass. They're good fun to do once in a while, because they go up when my press goes up, so they're not something I need to do constantly to see any gains at.

Yea, I'm doing the Texas Method Bench-press/ Press thing cept I'm using push press instead of press. My standing press it at 190# for a single (@198# bodyweight) and it's been there for a while even though I don't overhead press other than max days. So I wanna give the push-press a shot for a while but I'm not sure I wanna push press on light days. I'm thinking that I might just press at 80% my push-press volume days or something like that.
