When a young person has exhausted the linear progression model I am assuming they would at that point be capable of intermediate program? i mean can their hormones support that level of training?

Secondly if that is indeed the case once a young person hits puberty would it be prudent to think they could re do a linear progression model since they would be capable of supporting the faster increase with an increased hormonal environment?

How young are we talking about here? In general, training as discussed here, is not intended for kiddos below 15 or 16.

It is briefly discussed that weight training is ok for 6-12 Year olds in PPST3 but doesnt go into any detail.

That is mostly because kids who are 6 to 12 lack the maturity and body control to lift weights well. They tend to collapse into the bottom of the squat. Couple this with the fact that most people cannot coach well and having kids lift is a fraught experience. There are not a ton of kids that young who lift, so programming for them is not as well fleshed out. Physiological limitations are probably less of an issue than maturity limitations. Lifting weights is often not fun. It is rewarding, but not really fun. That is a tough sell when you are six, hence it probably better for kids to run around and play.

I agree. Do you think that dumbells could be used better in this circumstance? Maybe just do 3-4x6-12 bench, press, db squats and deadlift? Seems like a safer alternative

Barbells are almost always a better choice. There is no inherent danger in having kids lift, but they need competent coaching.
