I ve removed power cleans for now because I was struggling with some knee pain. So I ve been alternating deadlift and chin ups. I ve progressed to three sets of nine reps. All reps from dead hang , no swinging , no kipping ,upper chest touches the bar or it doesn't count. I did mess around with some over hand pull ups and negatives and just chin ups . My question even tho I don't get ten reps on any set , is three sets of nine close enough if all the reps are quality . Will some weighted chins evey other chin up day help drive up my chin up strenght? Or should I increase the sets maybe? Or just not?

I'd be impatient to add weight - I bet it'll drive your volume at bodyweight.

I don't think 3x10 is a hard and fast rule for earning some kind of right to add weight to the chin-ups. Go forth with your plate-dangling. Don't hit yourself in any sensitive netherly regions.
