    Hi

I have been watching and reading a lot of your information on squat and hip drive, i have mastered hip drive pretty well.

i have an issue though, i cant squat without my heels elevated. i tried doing free standing squats and i get huge discomfort in my hip area. if i elevate my heels say 18mm, the problem is gone and my knee's dont excessivly track forward.

i hope you can help, im at a loss now with it.

    Thanks

What do weightlifting shoes accomplish? Might this be one of the reasons I recommend them? And what the hell are "free standing squats"?

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply.

Sorry, i meant bodyweight squats, without holding anything for balance.

i do understand weightlifting shoes have a heel lift, but i wasnt sure exactly why. i herd a few people say that you dont reccomend elevating the heels, so i would never have thought you would reccomend them.

is this problem likley to go away over time doing squats? i suppose i wont ever have to worry about it though with shoes.

    Thanks for the advice!

Use some plates to elevate your heels and you'll see how much it helps.

And blackmail somebody into buying you SSBBT for Xmas. You'll learn all about squats and shoes in there.
