    Default Fractured Wrist: Modify routine and keep lifting, or just wait it out?

    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    I can't deadlift, although I'm going to try to come up with a solution, I can't bench or press. I can still use the hack squat machine for some kind of squatting at least, I can still do other lower body work.

    Coach Rip, in your experience, what's the best course of action: wait it out, or change the routine?

    I would offer that it depends on what is meant by "broken wrist." A fractured radius and a fractured scaphoid are two very different things.

    From your description you currently cannot hold a barbell at all, in any position. pressing, pulling, supporting it on your back. if you can't use barbells at all I'm not sure what routine you are hoping to change to. until you can hold a barbell in at least some position you cannot lift. continuing to exercise in some fashion is a great idea but you are not doing any kind of lifting program or routine if you cannot hold barbells.
