Thanks to SS, this 55-year-old geezerette can now do a chin up
I have always been the least athletic one in my PE class with no upper body strength my whole life. When I started doing Starting Strength two years ago as a means to stave off osteoporosis, I found I really enjoyed lifting heavy. Now, thanks to the strength I've gained, I can now do one unassisted chin up from a dead hang all the way up -- I am now working on multiples.
The added bonus is when all the well-meaning gym bros and babes give me advice about looking up when I squat, avoiding shoulder presses etc. , they become mysteriously quiet when they see me do a chin up.
