Are guys in the crossfit games like Richard Fronning considered "advanced" lifters considering he overhead squats like 360 pounds? If so how in the hell do they keep such big numbers while still being in shape to do all the other events, is it just genetics or what?

Or perhaps strength plays a bigger role in being in shape than most people think, and staying in shape is a lot easier than most people think.

Correction: crossfit on steroids plus a lot of supplemental lifting. An absolute shit ton of volume. He's very young, but it's still staggering.

Also maintaining strength once you have it is not as hard as building it. It's long, hard, smart training. I mean, they're like football players or decathletes or whatever, except a bit slower and a bit weaker.

I don't know about these guys but my own personal experience is that I've been able to beat many crossfit guys at cardio/metcon type of workouts even though I've only been lifting heavy for a long long time and not done any cardio besides walking.
