    Coach,

I was watching this guy today doing squats...poorly. He had like 240 on his shoulders, and did a 1/4 squat (if that) that he proceeded to goodmorning up every time. I think his belt is the only thing keeping him from folding up like a swiss-army knife. Anyway, my question is, if you see this type of action in your gym, to you immediately correct/holler at these poor souls, or do you let them do their thing (like all of the other gym owners/managers do)?

    thanks,

    Dennis

Everybody here learns how to do the lifts before they train. If we have people that sign up that "already know" how to lift, they are castigated into submission by our members and myself. Peer pressure is a powerful thing. I had a kid last night who showed up and squatted a set high before I sicced the dogs on him.

God bless you Mark Rippetoe. I know you've heard this a million times now, but thanks once more for giving us the benefit of your counsel in this forum. Where there any justice in this world you'd never have to buy your own beer.

And yet you still won't pay $0.25 for some blue cheese or $1.50 for a cheeseburger?

If even 5% of the "Gyms" out there did exactly what is done in WFAC, I'd imagine we would have quite a healthier, stronger population, and I'd imagine all of these gyms would see increased membership/attendance because people would actually see RESULTS. Maybe, god forbid, our medical insurance costs would go down because there would be less fat, weak people getting sick all of the time.

    Bravo, Coach!!

Rip has been leaving the gym and seen someone squatting inappropriately out of the corner of his eye. Before stepping out the door, he said, "Someone teach him/her how to squat. We can't have that here."

    That's because you'd already had about 8.
