I took a video but it's from the side and I really just want to know how my squat depth is right now.

Here's an image of my last rep of my last set:

I always thought the top of the crease at my hips had to pass the top of the knee but after more detailed reading, it should pass the top of the patella which is about an inch lower. So it looks to me like these are an inch high. Thoughts?

IMHO, you are bang on the borderline. I would go one inch lower just to remove any doubt.

Agreed. The hip crease would seem to start just above the third hole (from the bottom) on the rack, while the kneecap would seem to end just shy of the fourth.

Seems borderline, but definitely not "high". I would keep adding weight. Assuming this is a heavy set for you, I bet in a few weeks you can do this and get a little lower. My limit sets are always closer to parallel...then a few weeks later when they become volume day sets (on Texas Method), they get a little deeper. Knees look a little closer together/as does toe angle, but hard to tell from this view. More toes out/knees out could give you the extra 1in of depth to be certain.

Honestly, when I squat to this height (which I do often, especially as I get fatigued), I feel like it's high, borderline at best. As you say, I don't think your hip crease is getting below the top of the patella.

That said, it also depends on your form. If you can go deeper without a) getting loose and b) your lower back getting out of extension, I think you should. If you need to do either of those things to get the extra depth then you probably should work on that first before trying to go lower.

Ok thanks for the responses guys. I think it's just that I'm not sensing the depth properly yet. I'll focus on getting deeper next time.

If I were a judge, I'd give you a white light. Good depth. But don't go any higher.

that is almost perfect depth IMO.

in my personal experience (not much) though some IPF affiliate judges can be quite harsh on depth so in a competition situation I would try to go a tiny bit lower.

however in a training situation with no competition aspirations i think your depth is bang on.
