Default Texas Method and the Military

    Rip,

My background...I am a soldier in the US Army. I spent about 18 months on the SS routine and the Texas method. As I am sure you can guess, I made huge gains.

My only problem was that I got slow at running. I switched over the CrossFit and got better at running, but my strength essentially vanished. Very frustrating.

I am now coming off of ankle surgery and want to find a way to utilize the Texas Method and continue to stay fast. I was thinking about lifting in the morning and running/CF Metcons at night. Does this sound like a plan or do you have any other ideas?

    Thanks.

KSC has written at length about this here. In general, do your TM workouts with one metcon and one short fast running workout per week.

Thanks...I think I'll have to add a little more running. We frequently run 5-6 miles in my unit and I don't think doing one short running workout a week is going to be enough.

It will be enough if you make it very hard. Perhaps 4 - 800s done with 5 minutes rest between.
