I'll be 51 in January, just started SS about two months ago, when i was younger in the 70s I ran a lot, several marathons, never ever had any core strength or upper body at all. Currently 6', call it 208lbs more or less.

Started like i said about 2 months ago, could barely squat 115, tonight just did 185 x3 x5, very happy. deadlifted 145 as well. for me, couldn't be happier. have some soreness in my glutes but will take it.

Welcome. Soon you will look at your new numbers as light. We need strength as we age. I used to run as well but I got to the point that I realized that the older I got the less likely I would be a champion runner but I did need strength to function.

The technical classification for one of your tender years is a geezoid. When you hit 60, you're a geezer. Always good to have another one around.

close, bad syntax on my part, ran my first one in 1980 (in Vernon, NJ) then ran Jersey Shore in Nov of 81, then Marine Corps in 82 and 83. But by then I had discovered the joys of beer and especially gin in college...

I wondered if I was a geezer yet and I'm not! Only 57 so a few years left to go.

OK, it appears a restatement of the Geezer Taxonomy is in order here:

    40+ Geezling
    50+ Geezoid
    60+ Geezer
    70+ Geezosaur
    80+ Geezolith
    90+ Geez!
