I had a recent success story with dips. I had a weak bench, specifically due to anterior shoulder weakness. I did a regiment of dips and I no longer feel insecure at the bottom of the bench. They have limitations (adding weight and form) but, if one can perform correctly and is looking to improve pressing exercises, dips seem like a good addition. Again, full ROM was key for me to add anterior shoulder strength.

10 pounds on my 3x5. I no longer feel stuck and I’m ready to add 5 more pounds.

It went down and then went back to what it was. I am now at the same body weight before dips lifting 3x5 with 10 pounds added with no failed sets and will be adding 5 pounds next workout. It could be placebo Rip, but the only exercises added and trained was dips and chins. I thought it was worth noting as an accessory exercise if done properly.
