Default Platform Construction from TBone <Or Another Qualified Person>

I'm building the platform TBone links to (and has in her place) on this archived thread:

    http://startingstrength.com/resource.../t-24206.html?

Is the rubber just sitting on the platform or is it PL'ed down?

Also, I got a veneered oak plywood top for the thing so the floor was reasonably uniform. Has anybody done anything to finish out the top? If you haven't, how is it holding up?

    "PL'ed" down?

I couldn't see the platform in that thread, but usually people use some type of adhesive and screws to hold them down. I lift mine up and clean them occasionally since they're in my nasty old dungeon-esque garage, so I just put screws in them. However I have just left mine lying on the wood for several hours before, and they stayed really well. I screwed them down so I wouldn't trip on them as I got on and off the platform, but if not for that, I have no doubt the mats would stay in place throughout the workout. The mats are heavy.

I did not finish my top layer of wood in any way because I often drop heavy dumbbells on it. Like I said, it's rather like a dungeon in my garage and no one sees my platform but me, so I didn't both. It's chipped and has paint transfer all over it from dropping dumbbells and plates all over it.

Yes, I used PL400 (I think it was 400, just check the specs for the different types) and screws.

This link has both the written instructions and a video for the platforms. I used plywood instead of MDF. I like the plywood a lot better. The rubber is held down with screws. There are a lot of screws and a lot of glue used. I am building a fourth platform to replace our small 6'x8' platform in the next few weeks.

We used one platform for about a week before we screwed down the rubber. It doesn't work. The stall mats move after just a few lifts.

Sorry; PL = construction adhesive. It's a specific product series made by Loctite. I think a lot of other people might mention liquid nails instead.

    Thanks for the help, guys.
