    Coaches,

I'm noticing that at heavier weights especially, my hips are coming up a bit too fast, and my back angle is getting lower than I think it should be, making for a bit of a squat-morning.

My current theory is that my lagging deadlift means that my back is the weak part of the chain right now, and getting my weight up on it should improve matters, as it's seemed to have helped in the past.

Am I on the right track? Any cues that may help?

Keep your chest up and tight. Think about this hard when you're coming out of the bottom. And you're right - getting stronger will allow you to maintain position better. Deadlifts AND squats will do a nice job of this.

Weak quads. Push with your back and with your heels all you can. Drop the weight a bit and make all the reps good.

And wear a belt. It is amazing how belts will get rid of that feeling for you.

Thanks a lot, I'll work on that.

I do have a belt, and I wear it for my work sets.
