Need advice on moving a Geezer from 5/3/1 to SS
Several of us retirees (late 50s early 60s) been getting together and lifting a couple days a week at a home gym. We all started on SS. A mutual friend of ours started lifting several months back at his local gym and asked if he could join our group for the convenience and camaraderie. Come to find out he stated with Wendler’s 5/3/1 only it’s a variation Jim recommends called 5 Pros where each lift regardless of week or percentage is done with 3 sets of 5 reps.
His program looks like this:
A Day
Squat
Bench
Pulldown
B Day
Deadlift
Press
DB Rows
After 3 months his actual lifts for 5 reps with good form are:
Squat 145
Deadlift 175
Bench 115
Press 75
The guy just started with the wrong program and this is not to put down Jim's routine (I have read where he suggests SS for beginners), but we are looking for a way to properly and get him on the Starting Strength model? Any suggestions?
FYI: He is 61 and weighs 175.

You do it the exact same way as anybody else by working up to a set of 5 where bar speed slows
