Like the title says, the only place in my house that I can place my equipment has a pretty low ceiling. The local gym only has Smith Machines and what-not so that is out too.

Is a seated press bad for you as opposed to overhead?

    Anybody else have this problem?

If I couldn't do a standing press, then I'd do a seated one. However, I would simply take the bar outside and press. This is a fake choice between pressing seated vs not at all.

Try kneeling. I think that would be closer to a standing press than a seated press

Using 25's and going barefoot won't work?

Get some adjustable dumbbells and take them outside. Powerblock 90s will keep you busy.

I have the same problem when I workout at home. I kneel. It requires me to to be a little more careful not to lean back and stress the lower back to much. Without the bounce you get from the knees when standing, it feels more like a strict press. My strength from a kneeling press to a standing press is not much different.

Used to lift in my garage and ceiling was to low for press. I just pressed outside.
