    Hi coach,

I have used the search function and read the book (I only have the 2nd edition, my apologies if this is addressed in the more recent one).

In the forums you mention that one should start microloading the bench press and the press when 5lbs increments become too much. My question in short:

How can one tell when it "becomes too much"? Should one just play it by ear? Or should I wait until I have failed and deloaded on that particular exercise?

I have seen different people in this forum recommend very different things when it comes to this issue and would like to know your take on it.

I am at 145lbs on the bench and 95lbs on the press and the increments are feeling difficult. Progression in the squat (205lbs) and deadlift (255lbs) are fine and I am putting on bodyweight thanks to all the eating. I am 6' and 185lbs.

Microload the press and the bench press when they get hard. First time you miss an increase.
