Here's an observation from a kinder and gentler nation. Far too often, you guys are a bunch of Internet tough guy pricks. I've been DTFP for a year and a half, bought the books, work hard and learn a great deal from this site. However, I wouldn't ask you guys for the cure to cancer if you had it.
Peace and love,
An old Canadian lifter
I'm not sure I understand your reply.
Dude, this isn't 'nam. There are rules.
Come on Farback, a joke isn't funny when you have to explain it! I was giving an exaggeratedly over-the-top response to your post. For comedic effect.
But basically, this. There are other sections of the board that are (almost) anything goes free-for-alls. This section is specifically run solely by the seminar staff, so you know who you're dealing with when you get a response, and don't need to sort out the wheat from the chaff. We respond to the questions and, unlike the free-for-all parts of the forum, we moderate the discussions so you don't have the unwanted input of randoms who may or may not know what they're talking about and may or may not be anywhere near the mark. While caveat emptor always applies to everything, here you are guaranteed a certain quality of expertise responding. And this is still 100% for free, despite the years we've put in to get on the staff and the fact that in real life, every single one of us makes a living primarily or secondarily by actually coaching people. We lay out our expectations straight out in the sticky, which we pin to the top of the board so every new person sees it first when they enter this sub-forum. We even title it as clearly as possible to make as absolutely clear that we request people read it before posting.
So when people come in and blatantly disregard it, wasting the time of the professional coaches who volunteer their time here, yes, we get a little short. When this happens often, over the course of years, we might even get a little shorter.
Sorry, Canadia, but that's just how it works.

I did get the joke, and meant my reply as another.
I can understand your guys frustration, but I see people with low post counts getting treated fairly harshly. Maybe they have it coming, maybe they don't. Not looking for a fight, just making an observation.
Actually, Tom, we have something better than the cure to cancer (or so I have heard): We teach people how to squat. I have heard it said that proper heavy squats can cure cancer, and many other things, so they are actually better than a cure for cancer.
So we've got that going for us.
